The Dragon Courage is Needed shirt reminds us that courage is not about swinging swords or jumping off cliffs, it is about being honest, kind and loyal in the face of resistance. It is about standing up for what you believe in, even when it is unpopular.
If kids learn this when they are young, they will be better equipped to stand up for themselves and not give in to peer pressure. It will redefine for them what it means to be a hero.
To reinforce the message, we’ve added a quotation by Maya Angelou on the back:
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”
The design itself comes in metallic gold ink on a black T-shirt in both youth and adult sizes, plus black on yellow in youth sizes, black on sapphire on adult sizes, and gold on maroon on adult sizes.
The gold is not foil, but the metallic ink does have a nice shimmer to it, as you can see in the close-up picture.
As a reference, my model is a 60-pound 8-year-old. The black T-shirt is a kid’s S 6-8.
SIZING: These are standard men’s T-shirts, made by Hanes or Gildan, which you can find in many department and craft stores.
Children’s sizes are given in ages, but I’ll give you the chest size as well. In general, children are much bigger than you think, so if you are not sure, order up a size. The kid sizes also vary by brand. The smaller circumference listed is for Hanes colors (yellow) and the larger is for Gildan (black):
S (6-8, 28-31″) M (10-12, 31-34″) L (14-16, 34-36″)
Adult sizes, in chest circumference, in inches, are:
S (34-36″) M (38-40″) L (42-44″) XL (46-48″)
Note: The design is really too big for an XS (2-4) kid’s shirt. For that size, I recommend our Illumine My Heart or World Citizen shirts.
