World Citizenship
Our World Citizen products encourage people to expand their vision of what it means to be a good citizen to encompass the entire world.
As the program Character Counts explains, being a good citizen means that you: “Do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Get involved in community affairs • Stay informed; vote • Be a good neighbor • Obey laws and rules • Respect authority • Protect the environment • Volunteer”
By adding “World” to citizenship, we add the word “global” to many of the above actions. We try to make our global community better • we cooperate globally • we are good neighbors to people of every nation, race and religion • we protect the global environment.
If you already see yourself as a World Citizen, then our flags, T-shirts, buttons and window decals let you proclaim your vision to the world.
If you are trying to teach children this important principle, then just seeing the words on stickers, balloons, awareness bracelets and buttons can begin to expand their understanding of their place in the world.
“Let your vision be world-embracing and not confined to your own self.”
